Breaking: Major Ground Collision at LaGuardia Airport
23rd Mar, 2026

The FDNY responded to reports of a collision between an aircraft and a vehicle on the airport runway at approximately 11:38 PM.

An Air Canada Express Bombardier CRJ-900, bound for Montreal, collided with a fire truck on the runway at New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA). The aircraft's cockpit sustained severe damage. At least four firefighters are reportedly in critical condition. Prior to the incident, LGA had issued advisories for light rain and fog, warning of potential flight disruptions.

There were 100 passengers on board, including a group of Orthodox Jews from the New York area; their conditions are currently being assessed. The FAA has issued a ground stop for LaGuardia due to this "aircraft emergency."

Latest Updates: All passengers have been deplaned and transported via Port Authority buses to a triage center. Rescuers are transferring the critically injured to trauma centers. Current casualty count: 2 confirmed fatalities, 3 in serious condition, 1 in critical condition, 2 with moderate injuries, and 67 with minor injuries.
