Tesla has officially released its financial results for the fourth quarter and the full fiscal year of 2025.
According to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Tesla’s Q4 total revenue stood at $24.90 billion, representing a 3.1% year-over-year (YoY) decrease. Operating profit for the quarter was $1.41 billion, down 11% YoY, while free cash flow fell 30% to $1.42 billion. Earnings per share (EPS) were $0.24, compared to $0.66 in the same period last year. Adjusted EPS for the fourth quarter was $0.50, down from $0.73 YoY. Despite the decline, Tesla’s stock rose nearly 4% in after-hours trading as the results exceeded analyst expectations.
For the first time in its history, Tesla reported a decline in annual revenue. In 2025, total revenue reached approximately $94.8 billion, a 3% dip compared to 2024. Net income for the year plummeted to approximately $3.794 billion, a sharp 46% YoY decrease.
The report notes that some of the headwinds Tesla faced in 2025 stemmed from CEO Elon Musk’s close alignment with U.S. President Donald Trump. His inflammatory political rhetoric and public support for far-right figures in Europe triggered a sustained consumer boycott throughout the year, impacting brand loyalty.
The decline in performance is also attributed to an aging product lineup. During the Q4 earnings call, Musk announced that Tesla will officially cease production of the Model S and Model X by the end of the second quarter of 2026.
"It is time for the Model S and Model X to retire with honor," Musk stated. "Tesla is truly moving toward an autonomous-centric future. If you are interested in buying a Model S or Model X, now is the best time to place your order."
In a major strategic shift, Musk revealed that the Model S/X production lines at the Fremont factory in California will be replaced by production lines for the Optimus humanoid robot. With a long-term goal of producing one million robots per year, this move signals Tesla’s comprehensive transformation from a luxury electric vehicle manufacturer into an artificial intelligence and robotics powerhouse.
